For those interested, unfortunately chesswithpatrick, inc has parted ways with the individual responsible for yesterday’s audio blunder. We wish them well. Still on the hunt for a replacement and job posting will go out soon. Thank you.
Nice win
Yeah, back to 1400, About 2 months ago was when you fell under it. Nice easy game.

Now, this isn't best, but I did find it interesting – after you took the rook, even if he played Qxg2, you could still take the knight because of Nf6+ after …Qxg8 which is a royal fork. Loses a pawn but makes the game a lot more certain, as their one heavy piece is off in the corner.
Copycat variation of the vienna is lethal. Well executed!
Loved the clean execution and attention to the risk vs. reward of taking the rook. Even if taking wasn't the best, you're continuing to think about it more and more instead of just taking mindlessly. That's a soft indicator of continued progress and maturity in the game, opino yo.
The opponent played like an 800 pushing random pawns while he/she is under attack here. Just my opinion, but I don't think this is a good opening to improve in chess. It leads to uncommon positions where you can win just via your opponents unfamiliarity (evident here by opponent playing so badly), so it doesn't seem best to develop positional or tactical play because you're playing in your own wheelhouse. Something which also happens to me, I think you got overconfident once up 13 points. Your bishop and knight were hanging, while your other bishop and rook were undeveloped. This was still possibly winnable for black at this elo
Good job! 1400 bring it on!
Patrick, I have to say, you seem like a new man the last several games. Playing more quickly, more confidently, and crushing opponents. I'm much lower rated, so I can't critique the play like others here can, but the "played as" ELO in the analysis must count for something!
Here's a story from my own experience in something very different, take it for what you will. I used to coach AAU baseball for 11/12 year olds. We brought in a hitting instructor who gave them any number of technical details about their swings and had them practice, practice, practice these body movements, swinging at the air. Their heads were spinning and at first their hitting actually got worse. The instructor asked at one point, "when you step into the batters box, what are you going to think about"? I heard: "keep the elbow up", "stay closed", "hands back", "lead with the hips, "rotate", "shift weight", etc, etc. The instructor said, NO. Don't think about anything, JUST HIT. Trust that the things you've practiced will eventually just happen. Not long after, their hitting did improve to a new level. I think you see where this is going. "Play faster", "change time controls", "practice with blitz", "don't practice with blitz", "develop", "don't move the same piece twice in the opening", "what will your opponent do", "checks, captures and attacks", "good move, look for better", "good move, just play it", "study openings", "don't study openings", "study endgames", etc, etc. Maybe now you're getting to the point of "JUST HIT"? Or maybe it really is the kids back to school! Whatever, enjoy the ride.
